Up to 2010 I had spent some weeks several times in Dubai but not yet in Abu Dhabi and intended to do it as the capital city’s fame had aroused my interest.
To reach it from Dubai it takes around 2 hours provided that you are touring not during the rush hour, otherwise you’ll forget this duration and estimate to spend around a doubled time on board of your taxi or public bus.
Once reached Abu Dhabi, if you’re travelling by bus you can choose to get out of the vehicle at the closest station with respect of your hotel, as there are several stations throughout Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi
My hotel was exactly in the city centre. One of the first things I perceived was the very low level of noise, which is not so natural if you consider that we are speaking about the capital city of the Arab Emirates. Nevertheless, it is really so.
As for my hotel, I had been expecting a remarkable array of services, but reality went beyond my expectations. My suite was gorgeous and also any other service, including restaurants, reception, concierge, club lounge and room service was absolutely excellent. Beleave me, I am very demanding, but in that case I can express anything but positive comments.
Alongside with the hotel where I stayed I could visit several other resorts, among them there was also the exclusive Emirates Palace. A must-see (and if your credit card supports you, also a must-stay) top hotel with an outstanding park surrounding it and also including some greens, sporting fields, swimming pools, waterfalls, and pagodas. A private white beach offers further exclusive luxury.
In addition, I had the opportunity of visiting several other resorts in Abu Dhabi and can just say that the average standard of hospitality both in terms of amenities and services is, say, majestic.
Abu Dhabi attractions
This Emirate stretches on a very extended territory which also comprises several other cities such as Al Ain and Al Gharbia. One of the most charming places of Abu Dhabi is its Corniche which stretches on several kilometers. Apart from boasting noteworthy natural beauty it is also perfectly well kept with a never ending line of trees and flowerbeds alternated with cozy fountains, cafes, restaurants, benches.
During your next stay in Abu Dhabi you should certainly schedule also a day at the Wildlife Centre, a very particular place which is home to several endangered wildlife species. Luxuriant vegetation, a luxurious resort and many leisure amenities have absolutely captivated my senses.
These are just a few suggestions of must see places in the capital city of the Arab Emirates. In my next post I’ll add some other gorgeous places, including the more than 200 both natural and man made islands in front of it.
