Laptops are popular because of their portability. During travel and by mishandling of device by those who use them, it can get damaged. Laptop screen is of liquid crystal display type (LCD) in almost every laptop brand. LCD uses light modulating properties of liquid crystals. The bigger screen has bigger resolution to have larger number of pixels. Pixels determine the quality of the display. Smaller and larger the number of pixels, more accurate will be the display. Laptop screens are of type glossy and matte. Glossy screens reflect less external light which results in good display then matte displays. Matte screens have anti-glare finish which scatters the reflected light. This results in blurring of the display image. It affects the color intensity, contrast ratio and viewing angle. LCD screens use backlight to for display purposes. These are of two types, CCFL and LED. CCFL or Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light utilizes bulb and a high voltage inverter which powers it. LED or Light Emitting Diodes uses a fluorescent tube and light emitting diodes to power it. The broken laptop screen should be replaced by screen having similar backlight type as the original screen.

Most of the broken laptop screen repair could be carried at much lower prices as compared to offered by laptop manufacturers. The prices vary from model to model and fall in the range of $149 – $399.
